O Holy Spirit

Small Red-coloured Cross

O Holy Spirit, you hovered over the deep
at the dawn of creation.
You fashioned time and space itself
in the initial magnificent flaring forth.
You breathed life into all beings
and you continue to dwell and work
in all creation to sustain that life.

Be with us now at this critical moment of our history.
Open our ears to the cry of the earth,
suffering the effects of human
exploitation and unbridled consumption.
Open our ears to the cries
of our brothers and sisters
living in the midst of extreme poverty and hunger.

Give us a deeper awareness
that we are part of all that you have made,
that we are intimately connected to all that has
been, all that is and all that will be.
Grant us a spirit of awe and wonder
as we contemplate the marvels of your creation,
recognising and giving thanks
for your presence within and around us.

Give us a deep respect for all life
and help us to renew our commitment
to foster life wherever we are.
Give us the courage to denounce all
that disfigures your creation
and to commit fully to caring for our earthly home
and for all the created beings we share it with.

May we live lives characterised
by compassion and service
and may we
embody your love in our relationships
with one another and with all Creation.

Holy Spirit, Inspire Me

Small red and grey Cross

Holy Spirit, inspire me.
Love of God, consume me; lead me along the true path.
Mary, my mother, look at me; with Jesus, bless me.
From every evil, from all illusions, from all dangers, preserve me.

(By St Mariam of Jesus Crucified)

Spiritual Communion

A Chalice

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things. I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.

As if You had already come, I embrace You and I unite myself entirely to You; do not permit me to be ever separated from You. Amen.

(St Alphonsus Liguori)

Saying the above prayer, followed by the recitation of: Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament have mercy on us – 33 times (Once for each of the years of Jesus’ life), was previously common practice for the receiving of a temporary world indulgence.

I Said A Prayer For You Today

Small Red-coloured Cross

I said a prayer for you today
and know God must have heard.
I felt the answer in my heart,
although He spoke no word!

I didn’t ask for wealth or fame,
I knew you wouldn’t mind.
I asked him to send treasures,
of a far more lasting kind!

I asked that He be near you,
at the start of each new day;
to grant you health and blessings
and friends to share your way!

I asked for happiness for you,
in all things great and small.
But it was for His loving care,
I prayed the most of all!

Sacred Heart Of Jesus

Small Red-coloured Cross

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, filled with an infinite love; broken by our ingratitude and pierced by our sins; yet loving us still; accept the consecration we make to Thee of all that we are and all that we have. Take every faculty of our souls and bodies, only day-by-day draw us nearer and nearer to Thy Sacred Heart and there we shall hear your voice. Teach us, Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy Holy Way. Amen.

[I will bless every place where a picture of my heart shall be exposed and honoured.]

Sacred Heart Of Jesus (Most Holy)

Most Holy Sacred Heart of Jesus, the fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you, and with sincere sorrow for my sins, I offer myself to you. Make me humble, patient, pure and obedient to your will.

Grant dear Jesus, that I may live in you and for you. Protect me and my family in the midst of danger; comfort us in our afflictions; give us health of body, assistance in our temporal needs, your blessing on all that we do, and the grace of a holy death. Amen.

Five Wounds

Small Red-coloured Cross

O God of Charity, without limit, and of Mercy without measure, I offer You the Five Wounds of our Blessed Lord for the grace to spend the remainder of my life in true and sincere repentance, to deplore my sins with the sorrow they deserve, and that I may repair before my death the loss of all grace which I have incurred through my malice and misfortune.

O Merciful God, receive my desire, accept my offering, hear my prayer. I belong to You and offer to You all I have through the most Pure Heart of Mary in union with Your Most Blessed Heart and sufferings, for the grace of a holy death. Amen.

Christ, The Universal King

Small Red-coloured Cross

O Christ Jesus, I acknowledge You as the Universal King.

All that has been made has been created by You. Exercise over me all Your rights. I renew my baptismal vows and renounce Satan with all his works and pomps, and I promise to lead a good Christian life. I promise especially to secure, as far as I can, the triumphs of the rights of God and of Your Church.

Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer You my lowly works and deeds, in order that all may recognise Your sacred Kingship, and that the reign of Your peace may be established throughout the entire world. Amen.
