My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things. I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
As if You had already come, I embrace You and I unite myself entirely to You; do not permit me to be ever separated from You. Amen.
(St Alphonsus Liguori)
Footnote:
Saying the above prayer, followed by the recitation of: “Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament have mercy on us“ – 33 times (Once for each of the years of Jesus’ life), was previously common practice for the receiving of a temporary world indulgence.
