Jesus’ Life: Chapter 1 – The Prophet John The Baptist
Think Before You Speak!
It’s a common pastime, comparing ourselves to others. However, our comparisons are not always truthful. Indeed, they are often a disguise, to hide our own personal failings.
Jesus, when speaking to a crowd of Jewish people, reminded them of some of their blatantly false comparisons.
When you talk about John the Baptist he said, “You say, he has a demon because he doesn’t eat bread or drink wine;” a common meal among the Jews. Instead, John ate locusts and wild honey, as a form of fasting and repentance.
When you talk about me, Jesus added, “You say, look at Him, a glutton and a drunk, a friend of tax collectors and sinners”. Jesus was happy to eat with whoever; Jews, tax collectors and sinners; he had come to guide and save everyone. (Mt 11:7-19, Lk 7:24-35)

Love like a child. Leave the judging to God!
Reflection
God open my eyes to see only the needs of others. Then God, give me the good grace to help them.
Prayer: Holy Spirit
Come Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of Your Divine Love.
Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created,
and You shall renew the face of the earth.
O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit
instructed the hearts of the faithful.
Grant, that by the same Spirit we may be truly wise
and ever rejoice in His consolation.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
