Jesus’ Life: Chapter 5 – The Sermon On The Mount
During a recent visit to the confessional and having confessed my sins, the Priest said to me, “Now, don’t forget that God loves you, he loves you very much”.
It’s sometimes difficult to grasp why God would still want to love me after I repeatedly sin over and over again. Yet, God continues to welcome the repentant sinner.
Jesus said to his disciples, “Do not give what is holy to dogs or throw your pearls before pigs; otherwise they will trample them under their feet and turn around and tear you to pieces”.
Here, Jesus was referring symbolically to his Holy Gospel. He was telling his disciples to leave those alone who treated the Gospel with contempt or refused to accept God’s love. Instead, rather than antagonise them, move on to spreading His Word elsewhere, among repentant sinners. (Matthew 7:6)
Thought
Sadly, not everyone who hears the Gospel of Jesus accepts his message and promises. Pray for non-believers that they will one day listen.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and save us from the fires of hell.

give us the wisdom to discover You,
the intelligence to understand You,
the diligence to seek after You,
the patience to wait for You,
eyes to behold You,
a heart to meditate upon You,
and a life to proclaim You,
through the power of the Spirit of Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
