St Gregory was born in Nyssa, Cappadocia, Turkey. Both Gregory and his brother Basil were canonised as Saints.
St Gregory was appointed Bishop of Nyssa and although deposed in 376 by Arians, he was reinstated two years later. St Gregory was a noted theologian whose works included, writings on the doctrine of the Trinity and today’s Nicene Creed (I believe in God, …).
St Gregory was one of the many early Christian leaders who helped lay the foundations of Christ’s teachings across the world.
St Gregory’s Feast Day is 10th January.
Pray for us that we may become worthy to enter into the joys of eternal life with the Angels and Saints in heaven.
