Prayer is Love, I want to Love

Mary Magdalene

St Mary Magdalene is extensively mentioned in the New Testament. Indeed, more often than many of the Apostles. She is sometimes incorrectly presented as a repentant prostitute although Jesus removed demons or healed her from some illness. The Gospels of Mark and Luke state that Jesus cast out seven demons from her.

St Mary Magdalene probably took a leading role among the female followers of Jesus and she bravely stood by Him in his hours of suffering while others went into hiding.

St Mary Magdalene was present at many of Jesus’ most crucial moments including his death on the Cross, burial and resurrection. The Gospels of John and Mark name her as the first person to testify that Jesus had risen from the dead.

The Feast of St Mary Magdalene is the 22nd July. Her Patronages include converts, contemplative life and repentant sinners.
