St John (1579 – 1615) was born into a wealthy Calvinist family near Keith, Scotland.
St John was educated in Europe by the Benedictines and Jesuits. He became a Roman Catholic at a time of much European political turmoil and later, following further studies, was ordained a Catholic Priest.

St John’s Feast Day is 10th March, the day of his hanging.
