Reflection: The Holy Family had many visitors immediately following the birth of Jesus. Among them were three shepherds.
An Angel of God appeared to the three Shepherds while they watched their sheep. The Angel told them that a baby had been born in Bethlehem saying, “Listen carefully, for I proclaim to you good news that brings great joy to all the people. Today, your Saviour is born” (Luke 2:10-11).
The elated Shepherds hurried to Bethlehem to see the Newborn Child. There they found Jesus asleep in a stable with his watchful parents, Mary and Joseph.
The Feast of the Holy Family is celebrated on the Sunday between Christmas Day and New Year’s day.
Blessed Mary:
I present myself before you, who are Queen of heaven and earth. From the lofty throne on which you sit, disdain not, I implore you, to cast your eyes on me, a poor sinner. (Extract from Prayer to the Mother of God)
Glory be…
