The Feast of Christ the King is celebrated worldwide on the Sunday before the First Sunday of Advent.
This honorary title is the name given to Jesus Christ by Christians. The terms “Christ” and “King” being quoted on many occasions in Scripture.
The Feast Day was instituted in 1925 by Pope Pius XI to remind us of our allegiance to our Spiritual King, as opposed to all earthly human rulers. Pope Benedict XVI said, Christ the King is not based on human power, but on the loving and serving of others.
