Background: St David was born son of a prince near St David’s in Wales. He was renowned as a teacher and preacher, founding monastic settlements and Churches in Wales, South West England and Brittany. His monastic rules were very strict with followers expected to eat only salted bread and herbs, no meat or alcohol, and spend their time in prayer. He is the Patron Saint of Wales. His Feast Day is 1st March.
Blessed David, you are an apostle and patron for the people of Wales.
Grant, I implore, that through your prayers, your people will be enlightened by the truth which you taught, and they will obtain everlasting life.
