Jesus’ Life: Chapter 2 – Jesus’ Birth And Childhood
Three Magi or Wise Kings saw a star rise in the eastern sky. As astrologers, they knew that this was a very unusual occurrence. They followed the star until it stopped over a stable in Bethlehem. When they entered the stable they found the baby Jesus with the Blessed Virgin Mary and Joseph.
The Three Magi had come well prepared for this grand occasion, they offered gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh to Jesus.
The three Kings names were Balthazar, Caspar and Melchior. They probably came from Arabia or Persia and were experts, not only in astrology but religion and medicine. (Mt 2:1-12, Lk 2:8-20)
Thought
Jesus, I do not have gold, frankincense or myrrh to offer. Instead, I ask you to accept this simple expression of my love: “I love You, Jesus, I love you from the depths of my whole heart”.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, may I never forget to offer something special to you each day; the fruits of my work, my repentance, a humble heart and my sincere love.
Prayer: Solace
May Christ support us all the day long,
till the shadows lengthen,
and the evening comes,
and the busy world is hushed,
and the fever of life is over
and our work is done.
Then in his mercy
may he give us a safe lodging,
and holy rest
and peace at the last. Amen.
