Jesus’ Life: Chapter 16 – The Last Supper
The disciples asked Jesus where he wanted them to prepare the Passover meal; they were a large group, the twelve Apostles and Jesus, substantial advance preparations were necessary.
In response, Jesus sent two of his disciples to Jerusalem, saying, “A man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. Wherever he enters, tell the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says, ‘Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’” He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there”.
The two disciples, doing as Jesus had instructed, found everything as He had said.
When evening came, Jesus and the twelve Apostles assembled in the large upstairs room. (Matthew 26:17-20, Mark 14:12-17, Luke 22:7-14)
Thought
It was to be Jesus’ final meal with his twelve Apostles; much suffering lay ahead.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, thank you for the many great things you have prepared for me; so often, I have allowed my memories to fade.
Prayer: Light (Gospel Extracts)
The light of God surrounds me,
the love of God enfolds me,
the power of God protects me,
the presence of God watches over me,
wherever I am, God is,
and where God is, all is perfect.
