Jesus’ Life: Chapter 7 – The Kingdom Of Heaven
Once again, when Jesus asked his disciples if they understood his parables they replied, “Yes”.
Jesus then said, “Therefore every expert in the law who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his treasure what is new and old”.
What did Jesus mean?
Jesus was referring to all Gospel teachers, our Priests and other Religious – the descendants of the Apostles but also arguably, our parents and peers. Indeed, Jesus’ message could apply to everyone.
Jesus was saying, good teachers use their wisdom of old alongside their knowledge of his New Testament to inspire others. They also continue to study his Gospel and add to their personal understanding.
Likewise, good students continue to study his Gospel thus gaining an ever closer union of love with the Risen Lord Jesus Christ. (Matthew 13:51-52)
Thought
If we want to increase our love for someone, we have to get to know them better. Loving Jesus more means we become an “Expert in his Gospel”, we gain a better understanding of his teachings and obey them.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, guide me in new ways to find a deeper love for you. This I ask through your loving Mother, the Queen of Heaven. Amen.

Remember O Most Gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known
that anyone who fled to Thy protection,
implored Thy help or sought Thy intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
I fly unto Thee O Virgin of Virgins, my Mother;
to Thee I come; before Thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful,
O Mother of the word incarnate,
despise not my petitions;
but in Thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
