Jesus’ Life: Chapter 9 – The Way To The Cross
How would you react if you were told that someone was secretly helping you to do your everyday work? Smile or get stressed!
It didn’t bother Jesus. The disciples noticed someone casting our demons in His name and they tried to stop him; he wasn’t one of them! When they told Jesus He replied, “Do not stop him, because no one who does a miracle in my name will be able, soon afterwards, to say anything bad about me”.
We can be a very possessive and selfish people; not wanting others to assist or give them credit for their good works. Jesus’ teachings are for sharing; God’s gifts are for everyone. Perhaps, the day after the disciples saw the man casting out demons, he converted to Christianity; God works in amazing ways.
Jesus added, “Whoever is not against us is for us. For I tell you the truth, whoever gives you a cup of water because you bear Christ’s name will never lose his reward”. (Matthew 10:42, Mark 9:38-41, Luke 9:49-50)
Thought
Our words are mightier than the sword but actions must follow our words. Live Jesus’ teachings, others will notice and the seeds of your faith will grow within them.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, open my eyes to your ways and my heart to your teachings. May I become a tireless worker in your fields. Amen.
Prayer: Holy Spirit
Come Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of Your Divine Love.
Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created,
and You shall renew the face of the earth.
O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit
instructed the hearts of the faithful.
Grant, that by the same Spirit we may be truly wise
and ever rejoice in His consolation.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
