Jesus’ Life: Chapter 5 – The Sermon On The Mount
Being a Christian is not an automatic road to heaven. Jesus warned, “Enter through the narrow gate… the way is difficult that leads to life, and there are few who find it”.
The Gospel and Jesus’ death on the Cross, is the narrow gate that he refers to; it is our road to salvation. The narrow gate exists because of God’s love for us.
Our decision to access the Kingdom of God means we have decided to make the many sacrifices and commitments that Jesus asks; we want to receive his precious reward. (Matthew 7:13-14, Luke 13:23-24)
Thought
When you need additional strength and encouragement to remain on the narrow path, seek the grace of the Holy Spirit.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, you are my only light. Guide me to your Kingdom.
Prayer: Holy Spirit
Come Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of Your Divine Love.
Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created,
and You shall renew the face of the earth.
O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit
instructed the hearts of the faithful.
Grant, that by the same Spirit we may be truly wise
and ever rejoice in His consolation.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
