Jesus’ Life: Chapter 4 – Jesus’ Ministry In Galilee (Part 1)
Jesus returned to his hometown of Nazareth and, as was his weekly routine, He went to the Synagogue on the Sabbath.
When He stood up to read, the scroll of the Prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. Jesus unrolled it and read the following scripture:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and the regaining of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”
As He finished, Jesus closed the scroll, returned it to the attendant and sat down.
All in the synagogue were astonished; Jesus was their Saviour. Until then, they had known Him only, as the son of Joseph, the carpenter. (Luke 4:14b-30)
Thought
How immensely thankful we must be, that Jesus came into this world to give his life for our sins and that we could be saved.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, I sing your praises. My spirit thirsts for you. Nothing in this world can ever dampen my joy.
Prayer: Joy (Mother Teresa)
I smile, and the world smiles with me.
I laugh, and the world laughs too.
I praise you, dear God, and the world breaks out in song.
For you are the source of my joy,
the wellspring of my love,
the key to my compassion.
Be with me today, tomorrow, and forever,
so that I may bring your joy to all I meet.
