Prayer is Love, I want to Love

Jesus Heals Multitudes By The Sea (2)

Jesus’ Life: Chapter 4 – Jesus’ Ministry In Galilee (Part 1)
Map of First Century Iudaea

The news of Jesus’ preaching and his great healing powers spread far beyond the areas that he travelled. When he moved with his disciples to the sea, people still wanted to see him, hear him and of course, those who were sick or disabled wanted to be cured. They travelled great distances and in large numbers from, “Jerusalem, Idumea, beyond the Jordan River, and around Tyre and Sidon”.

The faith of those with illnesses and disabilities was so great that they would simply push their way through the crowds, touch Jesus’ clothing and expect to be healed. And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, – You are the Son of God,” but Jesus warned them, “not to make Him known”. (Matthew 4:24-25, Mark 3:7-12, Luke 6:17-19)

Thought

“The name of Jesus is light and food and medicine. It is light when it is preached to us; it is food when we think about it; it is the medicine that soothes our pains when we invoke it”. (St Bernard of Clairvaux)

Reflection

Lord Jesus, strengthen my faith and heal my needs. Then Lord, guide me to a closer understanding of your calling.

Prayer: Holy Spirit

Come Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of Your Divine Love.
Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created,
and You shall renew the face of the earth.

O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit
instructed the hearts of the faithful.
Grant, that by the same Spirit we may be truly wise
and ever rejoice in His consolation.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
