Extract
The Holy Spirit descended on Jesus at his baptism in the River Jordan. He was then “driven into the wilderness” where he remained for “forty days, enduring temptations from Satan”. (Mark 1:12-13)
He didn’t succumb to Satan’s false promises.
Thought
If only I could resist a few of my daily temptations!
Reflection
Lord Jesus, when I am being tempted by Satan, send your Holy Spirit to guide me towards your world of eternal happiness.
Prayer: Transform Me
O my Divine Saviour, transform me into yourself.
May my hands be the hands of Jesus.
May my tongue be the tongue of Jesus,
Grant that every faculty of my body may serve only to glorify you.
Above all, transform my soul and all its powers,
so that my memory, my will and my affections
may be the memory, the will and the affections of Jesus.
I pray you to destroy in me all that is not you.
Grant that I may live but in you and for you,
and that I may truly say with St. Paul:
“I live, now not I, but Christ lives in me”. (Gal 2:20)
