Jesus said to his disciples and a “vast multitude from all over Judea, from Jerusalem, and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon”:
- “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
- To the person who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other as well, and from the person who takes away your coat, do not withhold your tunic either.
- Give to everyone who asks you, and do not ask for your possessions back”. (Luke 6:27-30)
This is one of my most returned-to Bible passages!
Why? Because I frequently fail to do as Jesus asks. Now I seek forgiveness and will keep trying.
Lord Jesus, thank you for the gift of perseverance, guide me through my daily challenges and help me to live a more holy life.
Prayer: Faith (Arjuna – 8th Century)
Supreme God, your light is brighter than the sun,
your purity whiter than mountain snow,
you are present wherever I go.
All people of wisdom praise you.
So I too put faith in all your words,
knowing that everything you teach is true.
Neither the angels in heaven or the demons in hell
can know the perfection of your wisdom,
for it is beyond all understanding.
Only your Spirit knows you;
only you can know your true self.
You are the source of all being,
the power of all power,
the rule of all creatures.
