When the rich man begged Abraham to send Lazarus to warn his five brothers “that they don’t come into this place of torment”, Abraham replied, “If they do not respond to Moses and the prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.” (Luke 16: 19-31)
Thought
Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice through his death on the Cross but then rose again. Yet, many still don’t take heed.
Interestingly, Lazarus, as in Martha and Mary’s brother, also died and Jesus, after four days, raised him back to life. The response of the Jewish Leaders on that occasion was, likewise, to plan his murder because many people believed that Jesus was the Messiah and were following Him.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, I place myself in your hands. May your blessings penetrate my whole being as I live your Gospel teachings today. Amen.
Prayer: Love
Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.
