Jesus’ disciples were “astonished” when He said, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God”.
Asking each other, “Then who can be saved?” Jesus replied, “This is impossible for mere humans, but not for God”. (Mark 10:25-26)
Thought
How many of us are “rich” by Jesus’ definition? Am I among them?
Each person has to come to their own decision but remember:
“There are around 1 billion people in the world who live on less than 1 dollar per day and more than half of the world population lives on less than 10 dollars a day”.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, open my heart to my wealth – my money, my time and my skills. Help me to be more compassionate and caring towards my family, my community and my worldwide brothers and sisters.
Prayer: Psalm 130
Out of the depths, I cry to you, O Lord,
Lord, hear my voice.
O let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleading.
If you, O Lord, should mark our guilt,
Lord, who would survive?
But with you is found forgiveness;
for this we revere you.
