When the prodigal son had spent his father’s inheritance, a severe famine spread throughout the area. “So he went and worked for one of the citizens of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. He was longing to eat the carob pods the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything”. (Luke 15:14-16)
Many people have severe regrets in later life when they reflect on their younger-day behaviours. No, they cannot turn the clock back but God awaits them with open arms whenever they repent and seek His forgiveness.
Lord Jesus, I turn to you, a repentant sinner. Have mercy on me. Forgive me my sins. Bestow on me the grace of your salvation and inspire in me your Gospel values. Amen.
Prayer: Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me
Water from the side of Christ, wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O Good Jesus, hear me
Within Thy wounds, Lord, hide me
Suffer me, not to be separated from Thee
From the malicious enemy defend me
In the hour of my death call me
that I may praise Thee with Thy Saints and Angels,
forever and ever. Amen.
