Prayer is Love, I want to Love

Parable Of The Sower (3)

Extract

Sketch of tree with its roots

Jesus, having shared the Parable of the Sower with his disciples said, “The seed sown on rocky ground [symbolises] the one who hears the word and receives it at once with joy. But he has no root and lasts only for a time”. (Matthew 13:5-6)

Thought

Our many worldly distractions are a continuous threat to living the life we truly desire. Without roots, we won’t merit the Kingdom of Heaven.

Reflection

Lord Jesus, help us to keep our roots firmly anchored in the ground.

[“The more you devote yourself to study of the sacred utterances, the richer will be your understanding of them, just as the more the soil is tilled, the richer the harvest”. (St Isidore of Seville)]

Prayer: Lord My God (St Anselm of Canterbury)

O Lord my God.
Teach my heart this day,
where and how to find you.

You have made me and remade me,
and you have bestowed on me all the good things I possess,
and still, I do not know you.
I have not yet done that for which I was made.
Teach me to seek you,
for I cannot seek you unless you teach me,
or find you unless you show yourself to me.

Let me seek you in my desire;
let me desire you in my seeking.
Let me find you by loving you;
let me love you when I find you. Amen.
