Extract
When Jesus was asked if only a few would be saved He replied, “Exert every effort to enter through the narrow door… Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, then you will stand outside and start to knock on the door and beg him, ‘Lord, let us in!’ But he will answer you, ‘I don’t know where you come from’”. (Luke 13:24-25)
Thought
How do I feel today about my preparations for entering through, “The Narrow Door?”
Daily prayer, the Holy Sacraments, acts of mercy and repentance are our primary signposts to the narrow door.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, create in me a hunger and thirst for your teachings so that all pride and selfishness will be stripped from me. Then Lord, help me to be a true follower of you; obeying your Word and passing it on to others.
Prayer: Abandonment (Charles de Foucaud)
Father, I abandon myself into your hands;
do with me what you will.
Whatever you may do, I thank you;
I am ready for all, I accept all.
Let only your will be done in me.
I wish no more than this, O Lord.
Into your hands I commend my soul:
I offer it to you with all the love of my heart,
for I love you, Lord, and so need to give myself,
to surrender myself into your hands without reserve
and with boundless confidence, for you are my Father.
