When Jesus said to his disciples, “The one who eats my flesh and drinks my blood resides in me and I in him (Holy Communion),” not all believed, so they stopped following Him. (John 6:56)
When Jesus challenged his chosen Apostles saying, “You don’t want to go away too”, Simon Peter said, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life”. (John 6:68)
Thought
So, where would I go, without the Word of God?
How lucky are those who have heard and believe!
Reflection
Lord Jesus, keep my faith as firm as Simon Peter. May all my mistakes be quickly overcome and my road to your eternal life assured.
Prayer: Lord My God (St Anselm of Canterbury)
O Lord my God.
Teach my heart this day,
where and how to find you.
You have made me and remade me,
and you have bestowed on me all the good things I possess,
and still, I do not know you.
I have not yet done that for which I was made.
Teach me to seek you,
for I cannot seek you unless you teach me,
or find you unless you show yourself to me.
Let me seek you in my desire;
let me desire you in my seeking.
Let me find you by loving you;
let me love you when I find you. Amen.
