When Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ”.
Jesus then warned them not to tell anyone. (Mark 8:29-30)
At that early stage in Jesus’ ministry, He didn’t want to make himself known. However, many already considered him to be at least a Prophet.
Today, it’s a story reversal, many have heard about Jesus but don’t want to get to know him! It’s not a priority in their life. Pray for them.
Almighty Father, enlighten all Christians so that they become true examples to non-believers of your Risen Son’s teachings.
Prayer: Christian Unity (John Henry Newman)
O Lord Jesus Christ,
when you were about to suffer,
you prayed for your disciples that they might all be one,
as you are in the Father,
and the Father in you.
Look down in pity on the many divisions
among those who profess your faith.
Heal the wounds which the pride of man
and the craft of satan have inflicted on your people.
Break down the walls of separation which divide Christians.
Look with compassion on all souls and bring them together
under the Holy Catholic Church.
