Extract
During Jesus’ preaching and teaching, he warned the crowds against, what we sometimes refer to as, the seven woes. Each woe recalled an example in the life of many Law Experts and Pharisees such as tying up heavy loads for others to carry or sitting at the top of the banquet table to be seen by everyone.
Jesus said, “Do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach”. (Matthew 23:3)
Thought
As I listened to a group of young children struggling to understand “The Woes”, one said, maybe Jesus was saying when people get older they become lazy and do bad things, that’s not fair!
Reflection
Lord Jesus, may my life be a life of work, woven with You through the Holy Eucharist.
Prayer: Humility (St Alphonsus Ligouri)
Most humble Jesus,
give me a share of your humility.
Take from my heart, everything that displeases you;
convert it totally to you,
so that I may no longer will or desire
anything other than what you will.
