When a crowd gathered to hear Jesus preach and see his miracles, a woman in the crowd shouted out, “Blessed is the womb that bore you”. – In reference to his Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Jesus replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it”. (Luke 11:28)
Today, we proudly refer to Jesus’ Mother as the Blessed Virgin Mary but, on this occasion, Jesus was inviting the woman who made the comment and indeed us, to aspire to the status of, “Blessed;” to hear, obey and keep His Word.
Lord Jesus, may our work be forever blessed and may we, one day, live among the Blessed with the Angels, Saints and our Almighty Father.
Prayer: Be At Peace (St Francis de Sales)
Do not look forward in fear to the changes in life;
rather, look to them with full hope that as they arise,
God, whose very own you are,
will lead you safely through all things;
and when you cannot stand it,
God will carry you in His arms.
Do not fear what may happen tomorrow;
the same understanding Father who cares for you today
will take care of you then and every day.
He will either shield you from suffering
or will give you unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace,
and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations.
