Gospel Extract
Having just shared the Lord’s Prayer with his disciples, Jesus told them the story of a man who went to a friend at midnight, to ask for three loaves of bread; his friend had stopped over and he had nothing to offer him to eat!
Jesus said, “I tell you, even though the man inside will not get up… because of [his]… sheer persistence he will get up and give him whatever he needs”. (Luke 11:8)
Thought
When we want something badly enough in life, we don’t give up; that’s “Sheer Persistence”. Likewise, when we want something badly enough from God, we don’t stop praying.
Reflection
Almighty God, you have chosen me. I pray that you lead me to where you want me to go. I ask this through Jesus your Son. Amen.
Prayer
Soul of Christ, sanctify me
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me
Water from the side of Christ, wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O Good Jesus, hear me
Within Thy wounds, Lord, hide me
Suffer me, not to be separated from Thee
From the malicious enemy defend me
In the hour of my death call me
that I may praise Thee with Thy Saints and Angels,
