Jesus said to his disciples, “You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and they will have some of you put to death. You will be hated by everyone because of my name. Yet not a hair of your head will perish. By your endurance, you will gain your lives.” (Luke 21: 12-19)
Thought
Did the disciples understand? Did they take his words literally?
The disciples were being told unimaginable truths about their future and many of those listening were soon persecuted to death, martyrdom.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, I humbly pray for all Priests and Religious throughout the world today. Be merciful to them, listen to their prayers. Amen.

Our Dear Redeemer,
relying on your promises,
because you are faithful, all-powerful and merciful,
we hope, through the merits of your Passion,
for the forgiveness of our sins,
perseverance until death in your grace;
and at length, we hope, by your mercy,
to see and love you eternally in heaven.
