In Jesus’ Parable of the Ten Virgins, the wise ones refused to give some oil to the foolish ones saying, “No, there won’t be enough for you and for us. Go instead to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves”.
When they were gone, “The bridegroom arrived, and those who were ready went inside with him to the wedding banquet. Then the door was shut”. (Matthew 25:9-10)
Will I have stored enough oil before the door shuts?
“Sincere Christians are the wise virgins and hypocrites the foolish ones”. (Matthew Henry Bible Commentary)
Lord Jesus, grant me a healthy fear of your judgement, all day long.
Prayer: Teach Us (St Ignatius of Loyola)
Teach us Good Lord;
To serve you as you deserve;
To give and not to count the cost;
To fight and not to heed the wounds;
To toil and not to seek for rest;
To labour and to ask for no reward,
Save that of knowing we do your will.
