Extract
Jesus told the Parable of The Great Eternal Banquet. Many people were invited by the Master but most were too busy to accept; they had other daily and personal chores to fulfil; “One after another they began to make excuses”.
The Master then sent his servants to bring the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame to the Banquet saying, “Not one of those individuals who were invited, will taste my banquet”. (Luke 14:24)
Thought
Our focus must remain firmly fixed on God’s Banquet, despite the appeal of our many short-term daily distractions.
It’s not easy; we need the strength of the Holy Spirit. Ask!
Reflection
Lord Jesus, may I be always ready and willing to accept whatever you seek of me. Give me the vision to see only You and Your great banquet table.
Prayer: The Sick
Father, your Son accepted our sufferings,
teaching us the virtue of patience in human illness.
Hear the prayers we offer for our sick brothers and sisters.
May all who suffer pain, illness or disease
realise that they are chosen to be Saints,
and know that they are joined to Christ
in his suffering for the salvation of the world.
