Extract
When Jesus asked Simon Peter to cast his fishing nets out into the deep water, Simon answered, “Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing! But at your word, I will lower the nets.”
Having done so, “they caught so many fish that their nets started to tear”. (Luke 5: 1-11)
Thought
It’s easy to find reasons not to do what’s asked of us. Often, time is our given excuse for laziness!
Following Jesus’ also Gospel commands drive and energy; we must allocate the time.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, for everything there is a reason and a time. A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to work and all-time to do Your will. (Based on Ecclesiastes 3:1-18)
Prayer: Be at Peace (St Francis de Sales)
Do not look forward in fear to the changes in life;
rather, look to them with full hope that as they arise,
God, whose very own you are,
will lead you safely through all things;
and when you cannot stand it,
God will carry you in His arms.
Do not fear what may happen tomorrow;
the same understanding Father who cares for you today
will take care of you then and every day.
He will either shield you from suffering
or will give you unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace, and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations.
