Extract
A group of Sadducees, despite not believing in the resurrection of their own bodies, asked Jesus who a wife would belong to in heaven if she had married more than once on earth.
Jesus replied, “Those who are regarded as worthy to share… in the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage…, they can no longer die because they are equal to angels and are sons of God”. (Luke 20: 35-36)
Thought
Death will come to all of us and although difficult to understand while we remain attached to our loved ones in this world, we have an even greater love to look forward to in heaven.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, open my eyes to your ways. Guide me towards your endless and eternal love for all your people and help me to share your Gospel with those who don’t yet know you. Amen.
Prayer: Poor – Daily Service
Make us worthy, Lord,
to serve our brothers and sisters throughout the world,
who live and die in poverty and hunger.
Give them, through our hands,
this day their daily bread,
and by our understanding love,
give them peace and joy.
Make us, Lord,
worthy to serve our brothers and sisters,
scattered all over the world,
who live and die alone and poor.
Give them today, using our hands, their daily bread.
And, using our love, give them peace and happiness. Amen.
