Some Pharisees asked Jesus why he allowed his disciples to “work” on the Sabbath by letting them pick and eat grain as they walked through a field; such behaviour was apparently against their Laws!
Jesus replied, “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath”. (Luke 6:5)
Thought
It’s easy to find fault in others; much easier than recognising our own faults!
Reflection
Lord Jesus, remove my stubborn ways. Guide me towards your endless love. Help me to become more generous and understanding so that, I grow daily in my compassion and respect for your people.
Prayer: Poor – Daily Service
Make us worthy, Lord,
to serve our brothers and sisters throughout the world,
who live and die in poverty and hunger.
Give them, through our hands,
this day their daily bread,
and by our understanding love,
give them peace and joy.
Make us, Lord,
worthy to serve our brothers and sisters,
scattered all over the world,
who live and die alone and poor.
Give them today, using our hands, their daily bread.
And, using our love, give them peace and happiness. Amen.
Mother’s Corner
Corn grain gives physical sustenance to the body, a good source of energy, but it doesn’t provide Spiritual Sustenance.
Sunday is a day set aside for Spiritual Needs in many world religions.
Visit family and friends. Your joy is noticed – it’s wanted, share Jesus’ life with your children, talk to God about your ups and downs, attend Church – partake in the sacraments. God made you, He loves you, errors are forgiven – that’s God’s great love and promise to you.
Sunday, it’s a great day for resting and recharging with the Holy Spirit. Now, in my more senior years, rest is forced upon me; if only I had paused to rest with God in my younger years!
