Jesus said to his disciples, “In a little while you will see me no longer; again after a little while, you will see me”. (John 16:16)
The disciples didn’t understand what Jesus meant and discussed the possibilities among themselves.
“In a little while,” Jesus was crucified and died. Then, “after a little while” – three days, the Risen Jesus appeared to the disciples on multiple occasions before ascending to his Father.
(“In another little while,” Jesus will return to, “judge the living and the dead” – you and I.)
Lord Jesus, may I listen with my heart, act on your words with sincerity and integrity, and be ready to meet you when you come again in the Glory of God. Amen.
Prayer: Teach Us (St Ignatius of Loyola)
Teach us Good Lord;
To serve you as you deserve;
To give and not to count the cost;
To fight and not to heed the wounds;
To toil and not to seek for rest;
To labour and to ask for no reward,
Save that of knowing we do your will.
