Jesus’ everyday messages to the people were often very simple yet, they frequently delivered a very powerful warning!
When a Pharisee once invited Jesus to his home for a meal, Jesus accepted. The Pharisee was then shocked when Jesus sat down without washing his hands, a Jewish custom.
Jesus, aware of his reaction, said, “Now you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. You fools! Didn’t the one who made the outside make the inside as well?” (Luke 11:39-40)
Thought
God our Father knows what is in our hearts and heads including, all the false self-images we delightfully portray to others.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, calm the turmoil of my ways. Take my hand and lead me to your loving care. Never allow me to be separated from you.
Prayer: Come Holy Spirit
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful,
and kindle in them the fire of Your Divine Love.
Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created,
and You shall renew the face of the earth.
Oh God, Who by the light of the Holy Spirit
instructed the hearts of the faithful.
Grant, that by the same Spirit we may be truly wise and
ever rejoice in His consolation.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
