Following Simon Peter’s denial of Jesus and his reconciliation, Jesus said to him, “I tell you the solemn truth, when you were young, you tied your clothes around you and went wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will tie you up and bring you where you do not want to go.”
(Jesus said this to indicate clearly by what kind of death, Peter was going to glorify God.)
Thought
Like Simon Peter, Jesus continues to love us even after we disappoint Him. Jesus wants us to repent of our sins, seek forgiveness and, despite the trials that may lie ahead, strive to do only good.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, guide and help me as I seek to do your daily will. Give me the strength to avoid everything that will distance myself from You. May your power fill my life today and always.
A Prayer – Holy are your ways
Help me to understand, Lord,
that what counts is not the road travelled,
but simply putting my hand in yours
and journeying side by side with you, Lord Jesus.
O you who are the joy of my journey
and the repose in our Father’s home!
