Extract
Many times Jesus sought a quiet place to pray to his Heavenly Father.
Once when he had finished talking to his disciples, he looked to heaven and prayed loudly. Father, he said, “Now [the disciples] know that everything you gave me is from you… and they have believed that you sent me, I pray for them”. (John 17:7)
Thought
Jesus, as a man, prayed to God the Father for the people he loved, in this instance, his disciples.
God the Father, being a loving God, also awaits our prayers.
Reflection
Lord Jesus, I pray for my family and friends. May they find peace, living by your teachings and sharing them with others.
Prayer: Solace
May Christ support us all the day long,
till the shadows lengthen,
and the evening comes,
and the busy world is hushed,
and the fever of life is over
and our work is done.
Then in his mercy
may he give us a safe lodging,
and holy rest
and peace at the last. Amen.
