Jesus On Those Who Want To Serve Him (1)

Extract

Domestic Servant

Before the occasion of the Last Supper and His imminent death, Jesus was in Jerusalem, continuing to meet and teach the people.

Among his many messages He said, “If anyone wants to serve me, he must follow me, and where I am, my servant will be too. If anyone serves me, the Father will honour him”. (John 12:26)

Thought

Jesus knew that he was soon to be betrayed and handed over to his executioners yet, he was still trying to save others rather than, “Have the cup pass from himself”.

Reflection

Lord Jesus, strengthen my feeble heart, as I strive to remain close to your side. Renew my courage and vision.

Prayer: The Lord is My Shepherd

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in pastures green,
He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and kindness will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen.
