Jesus said to his disciples, “What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life”? (Matthew 16:26)
Jesus was, of course, comparing the gain of earthly possessions to heavenly reward.
Rather than making another dollar for myself today, how can I help someone else make a dollar for their family? Sharing can also be joyful.
Living may be compared to a team sport; by working together everyone benefits and the rewards are shared. But teamwork requires sacrifice and trust. Sacrifice for others and trust in the Lord.
Lord Jesus, strengthen my humble qualities. Give me the foresight to put others needs first, today.
O Most Pure Heart of Mary,
you are full of goodness.
Show us your love.
Let the flame of your heart, O Mary,
descend on all people.
Mary, we love you.
Impress on our hearts, true love,
so that we may long for you.
O Mary, gentle and humble of heart,
remember us in our greatest needs. Amen.
