The two disciples, who Jesus appeared to on the road to Emmaus, returned immediately to Jerusalem to tell the others.
When they were with the eleven, suddenly Jesus appeared among them saying, “Peace be with you”. But they were startled and terrified, thinking they were seeing a ghost”.
Jesus said to them, “Why are you frightened, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet; it’s me. Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones like you see I have”. (Luke 24:37-39)
By showing Himself once more to the disciples, Jesus was again strengthening their understanding of scripture; the words of Moses and the Prophets had been fulfilled. He was not a Ghost but the Risen Lord.
Lord Jesus, what is life without a faith in eternal happiness? May my faith and love for You neither weaken nor stumble as I face my life’s chores!
The light of God surrounds me,
the love of God enfolds me,
the power of God protects me,
the presence of God watches over me,
wherever I am, God is,
and where God is, all is perfect.
