Inside a locked room, Jesus appeared to the fearful disciples. Then in His familiar way, He said, “Peace be with you”.
After showing them His pierced hands, feet and side, He breathing on them saying, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.” (John 20: 19-23)
Thought
Why would Jesus offer to forgive me of my sins?
Jesus’ abundant love and immense mercy may be difficult for us to comprehend but His offer is an invitation to trust Him, to trust God. He wants us to return to our baptismal grace and transform our lives, our daily relationship with God.
Reflection
Almighty God, You called us out of darkness into Your wonderful light, strengthen my resolve to sin no more.
Prayer: Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest my sins most of all because they offend Thee, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of your grace, to sin no more and to amend my life. Amen.
