Daily Prayers

Prayer is Love, I want to Love

Jesus Eats With Sinners

Extract

Question Mark

Jesus kept himself very busy throughout each day of what was a very short life, curtailed by his early crucifixion. He willingly ate with sinners and saints, tax collectors and kings; his mission was clear, “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners”. (Mark 2:17)

Thought

Pope Francis called on everyone to return to a simpler lifestyle; a lifestyle that showed more respect towards inequality, poverty and basic human needs. He also told us to go out and meet our community so that we could better understand what our daily chores should be.

That’s, of course, what Jesus was doing during his ministry.

Reflection

Lord Jesus, whether we are righteous or sinners, we seek your help. Open our hearts to the spiritual poverty of your people, enable us to be more compassionate and helpful.

Prayer – Holy are your ways

Help me to understand, Lord,
that what counts is not the road travelled,
but simply putting my hand in yours
and journeying side by side with you, Lord Jesus.

O you who are the joy of my journey
and the repose in our Father’s home!
Holy, holy is the Lord,
for eternal is your love.
