Prayer is Love, I want to Love

Jesus’ Discourse About The Bread Of Life (2)

Extract

Image of the Holy Family

The Jews grumbled among themselves at Jesus’ claims when He said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven”. (John 6:41)

How can Jesus claim that He came down from heaven when we already know that He was born to Mary and Joseph the carpenter, they asked?

Surely, that’s a normal human birth, it isn’t Divine, they declared!

Thought

Some among the crowd of Jews probably knew Mary and Joseph and possibly Jesus as a child and young man. In their thinking, He was the progeny of a normal human birth and that wasn’t, in their imagination, a miraculous “coming down in the clouds from heaven”!

Reflection

Lord Jesus, I place my total trust in You. You are my Shepherd, You are the Bread of Life. Grant me a peaceful heart that resides in You.

Prayer: Most Holy Mary (St John Bosco)

Most Holy Virgin Mary, Help of Christians,
how sweet it is to come to your feet
imploring your perpetual help.
If earthly mothers cease not to remember their children,
how can you, the most loving of all mothers forget me?
Grant then to me, I implore you,
your perpetual help in all my necessities,
in every sorrow, and especially in all my temptations.
I ask for your unceasing help for all who are now suffering.
Help the weak, cure the sick, convert sinners.
Grant through your intercessions
many vocations to the religious life.
Obtain for us, O Mary, Help of Christians,
that having invoked you on earth
we may love and eternally thank you in heaven.
