It was winter and the Feast of Dedication when a group of Jewish leaders surrounded Jesus and asked, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.” (John 10:24)
Interestingly, Jesus had already told them many times before that He was Christ, but they refused to believe. Indeed, on this occasion, they attempted to stone Him for blasphemy i.e. claiming to be Christ! How contradictory is that?
Many are still being stoned today for claiming that Jesus is the Son of God; they are simply trying to live their Christian faith!
Lord Jesus, comfort those persecuted for believing in You. Bring peace to their life and the life of their family.
Thank You, Jesus.
Prayer: Service of the Poor
Make us worthy, Lord,
to serve our brothers and sisters throughout the world,
who live and die in poverty and hunger.
Give them, through our hands,
this day their daily bread,
and by our understanding love,
give them peace and joy.
Make us, Lord,
worthy to serve our brothers and sisters,
scattered all over the world,
who live and die alone and poor.
Give them today, using our hands, their daily bread.
And, using our love, give them peace and happiness. Amen.
