When Simon Peter responded to Jesus saying that He was, “The Christ of God,” Jesus “forcefully commanded” that the disciples tell no one saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and experts in the law, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.” (Luke 9: 18-22)
Thought
It was just a short while back that Jesus miraculously fed 5,000 people with a few loaves and fish, and the people wanted to make Him their king, an earthly king. But Jesus resolutely refused, “withdrawing into the mountainside”. (John 6: 15)
Did the disciples comprehend that Jesus must suffer and likewise, they in turn?
Reflection
Lord Jesus, guide me through the difficulties that surround my today. Grant me a deeper understanding of your will. Amen.
Prayer: Most Holy Spirit
Most Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I adore You.
Enlighten me, guide me, comfort me, console me.
I promise to submit myself to all You desire of me,
and permit all You wish to happen to me.
Give me Your help, tell me what to do.
Most Holy Spirit, bring peace to my world. Amen.
