Gospel Extract
An irritated Martha stopped her lunch preparations, approached Jesus and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do all the work alone? Tell her to help me”. (Luke 10:40)
Thought
Why wasn’t Mary helping? Selfish of Mary or Martha!
Perhaps neither! The same story is likely to repeat itself in multiple homes and places of work today; how would you respond?
Reflection
Lord Jesus, open my eyes to my selfishness, join my prayers, works, sufferings and joys of today to your great sacrifice for me. Amen.
Prayer: Abandonment (Charles de Foucauld)
Father, I abandon myself into your hands;
do with me what you will.
Whatever you may do, I thank you;
I am ready for all, I accept all.
Let only your will be done in me.
I wish no more than this, O Lord.
Into your hands I commend my soul:
I offer it to you with all the love of my heart,
for I love you, Lord, and so need to give myself,
to surrender
and with boundless confidence, for you are my Father.
