Extract:
In response to the Pharisees who warned Jesus that Herod wanted to “kill” him, Jesus replied, “…O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would have none of it!”. (Luke 13: 31-35)
Thought
The occasion was just days before his passion yet, Jesus’ overwhelming love for the people of Jerusalem remained as close as ever to his thoughts.
But the time had now sadly passed for him to tenderly gather them together, as a hen gathers her chicks, and Jesus was broken-hearted!
Reflection
Lord Jesus, assist me in my daily ways to share your Gospel with my family, friends and community. May they be inspired by your Word and sing your praises for all eternity. Amen.
Prayer: Priests and Religious
St Paul, great convert and Apostle,
guide all priests and religious.
Help them realise that their actions
speak louder than any words.
Teach them to use their talents
to convey God’s message
but, to rely above all,
on the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
