Healing A Leper

Extract
Patient with severe leprosy

Jesus cured a man with leprosy“While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came to him who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he bowed down with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” So He stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “… be clean!” and immediately the leprosy left him”. (Luke 5: 12-16)

Thought

Leprosy was an incurable disease in Jesus’ time and, because it was believed to be contagious, people avoided touching anyone who was even thought to be in contact with those who had the disease. Jesus however, was compassionate, he first touched the man and then cured him.

Reflection

Is my sin a kind of leprosy? Lord, with the same strong faith as the Leper, I ask you to touch me and cleanse me. Thank you, Jesus.
